Speaker: Dr. Erin Hladilek, an entomologist specializing in insect ecology. Native insects including bees, butterflies and moths, flies and beetles are important pollinators for plants in healthy ecosystems. Pollinator population density and diversity have significantly declined this session will discuss why and how planting pollinator friendly gardens can help support these beneficial insect populations, increase productivity of your fruits and vegetables and be a pleasant addition to your landscape. ________________________________________________________________ 11:30 am - "Building Bird-friendly Backyards" Speaker:Kaylee Woelfel, Bird-friendly Communities Coordinator for the MIssouri River Bird Observatory. North American bird populations have been experiencing rapid declines this session will discuss the modern challenges birds face, highlight practical strategies to reduce those hazards, and discuss ways to foster bird-friendly communities. ________________________________________________________________ 12:30 pm - "Improving Our World, One Roof at a Time" Speaker: Teresa Hessel, ISA Certified Arborist with Jost Greenhouses. Non-natives invasive plants are the second leading cause of biodiversity loss.
